Deptford has an abundance of coffee shops to choose from. From those with roasteries on site to creative spaces where you can sip a flat white while working, you can take your pick. Most of them also have brunch menus bursting with local ingredients so you’ll never get bored of your options.
If it’s something a little stronger you’re looking for, check out one of the area’s bars. There are plenty of options for you, including live music with a side of locally brewed beer, pre-dinner cocktails in a sophisticated setting, and a good old-fashioned pint in a traditional corner pub.
Fans of kitsch will fall in love with this quirky, award-winning venue in the Market Yard. It’s possible to lose a day if you turn up for one of the bottomless boozy brunches, but don’t worry - you haven’t got far to walk back to The Timberyard. With multiple awards – including one for its fish finger sandwiches – you’ll also find draft craft lager, teapot cocktails, Deptford disco fries and delicious afternoon tea. Be sure to arrive hungry!

If you’re a lover of both cycling and coffee, this is a must-visit destination for you. With a friendly café serving coffee that’s ground on site and two workshops willing to take on any repair and restoration, you can sit back and get your caffeine fix while your bike gets fixed. There’s a real community feel to this venue and you can even join their cycling club (London Velo Café Cycling Club) on one of their regular Sunday social rides.

This independent brewery is just a stone’s throw from The Timberyard and it’s where you’ll find a core range of beers alongside experimental and seasonal brews. Opened in late 2016 by brothers Archie and Louis Village, their craft beer can be found in Deptford at Dirty Apron, Deptford Cinema and Buster Mantis. You can also celebrate the weekend and sample it for yourself at the brewery on Fridays 5pm-11pm, Saturdays 12 noon-11pm and Sundays 12 noon-8pm.

This one’s for the coffee lovers. Coffee is roasted on site daily, so you really will be served up the ultimate flat white. It’s a great weekend spot bringing you cakes, deli sandwiches, soups and salads. Its location next to Deptford Railway Station means you’ll often be calling in to grab a takeout to wake you up for the morning commute. The beans are available to buy, so you can savour them at home, or buy them as a gift for any coffee-lover.
