Right on your doorstep, Elephant Park’s three new fitness venues
We all know Elephant Park is a great place to live, eat, shop, and hang out. Living here means you’re really close to lots of fun fitness venues and Lendlease has just announced the opening of three brand new facilities. Taking up space in two new buildings between Kent Road and Ash Avenue, we’ve got the latest on the newest faces on the Elephant Park fitness scene…
First in the ring is Fight City Gym. These combat training fitness specialists will take up residence in New Kent Road, and will offer an exciting range of activity classes for all levels and ages, such as boxing, MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. The Fight City team already own two hugely successful gyms in Balham and Moorgate and, through the combination of elite coaching and state of the art facilities, the Elephant and Castle space promises to be just as good. What’s the first rule of Fight City Gym? Tell EVERYONE about Fight City Gym.
Mani Johal, co-founder of the gym, is looking forward to bringing Fight City Gym’s ethos to a new local audience. “Elephant Park is an exciting new destination and stands as the perfect location within which to expand our offering in South London. We are very excited to have signed for a space here and look forward to seeing our combat training classes embraced by individuals of all fitness levels within the existing and emerging Elephant and Castle community.”
Next, we extend warm (sun) salutations to MoreYoga, who have chosen Elephant Park as the location for what will be their 34th London studio. Launching in 2016, the team quickly became a standout name for yoga veterans and beginners alike, with a winning combo of elite yoga teaching and affordable classes. Founder and Chairman Shanmir Sidhu explained, “We are committed to offering accessible classes located conveniently to fit into people’s day-to-day lives. We look forward to welcoming the community through our doors and providing everything MoreYoga is about to this vibrant community.”
They offer a wide range of yoga styles such as specialist restorative classes with focus on breathing and self-awareness, for those in need of some self-care. And if you’re looking for something more physically challenging, the team offer traditional yogic practices, but with strengthening and toning in mind.
And keeping up the pace, we have Tempo Pilates, whose new Ash Avenue studio will take up a space of almost 2500 sq ft. Hugely popular in Covent Garden, Hackney, and Shoreditch, Tempo Pilates put a twist on regular Pilates practices, utilising the tempo of music to provide fun and energising classes. Classes challenge participants to use controlled breathing and body movements to build strength and concentration – all performed in time to some banging beats.
Situated among the Homes by Lendlease properties available to buy in Elephant and Castle, Fight City Gym, MoreYoga, and Tempo Pilates will give local residents easy access to a wealth of fitness options. When complete, Elephant Park will encompass four and half hectares of public space, nearly 1,500 newly planted trees, and a 101,000 sqm park with a water feature and play facilities.
As the fitness trio take their place among an already stellar line-up of shops, restaurants, and events spaces, they become part of what promises to be one of the most vibrant and exciting areas of London to live, work and play. Guy Thomas, Head of Retail at Lendlease, said, “The recent signing announcements for Fight City Gym, MoreYoga and Tempo Pilates add to our offer for the local community and highlight our commitment to building a sustainable and balanced array of operators within Elephant Park.”
